Our Team
At SFR Law Corporation, our team is more than a group of legal professionals — we’re dedicated advocates committed to helping clients navigate complex immigration challenges with clarity, respect, and resolve. Every case we take on is handled with care, experience, and a deep understanding of what’s at stake.

Rocio Sanchez Flores, Esq.
Immigration Attorney
Rocio is not just an immigration attorney; she's an immigrant herself, this aspect of her identity deeply informs her practice. Having personally experienced the fear and excitement of her own immigration journey, Rocio brings a unique understanding and empathy to her work. For example, Rocio understands the cultural differences that often make communication difficult between immigrants and attorneys, or that many immigrants have never been in contact with an attorney before. So, she pays special attention to ensure her clients understand her immigration process, because, only as a team: Attorney-Client, you can obtain the best result in your immigration process. As the founder of SFR Law Corporation, it was important for Rocio that the law firm was certified as a Law Corporation by the California Bar. Therefore, unlike common law firms, we are in compliance with the extra-requirements established by the California Bar, ensuring that all our partners and clients have that extra peace of mind. Rocio’s search for excellence is demonstrated by her formation and accomplishments. She is an attorney licensed to practice in both, the country of Mexico and the state of California in USA. She earned her law degree from UATx in Mexico, while working to pay for her studies. With the economic pressure to pay for law school, and the pressure that comes with graduation, Rocio was able to graduate only by obtaining a CONACYT scholarship for her thesis research, a testament to her dedication and academic excellence. When arriving to the USA, Rocio had to get re-certified to practice law in the USA. While studying to get that re-certification, Rocio volunteered as an attorney for a nonprofit. After passing the California Bar in 2017, Rocio became part of an elite group of just 0.7% of foreign attorneys to achieve this milestone that year. As an immigration attorney, Rocio’s practice includes defending immigrants before the Immigration Court in deportation/removal proceedings and requesting affirmative immigration benefits (visas) before USCIS. In addition to her legal practice, Rocio is actively involved in community outreach and advocacy efforts as a Consultant Attorney for the Mexican Consulate in San Diego, and through her involvement in the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). In San Diego, Rocio has partnered and worked with some of the best local nonprofits, including Casa Cornelia, the Immigration Justice Project of the American Bar Association, San Diego Rapid Response Network, Catholic Charities, and Jewish Family Services. As well, Rocio has been a driving force to provide migrants in detention with free legal representation in partnership with the San Diego County through the Immigrant Legal Defense Program. Besides advocating for expanded pro bono representation, Rocio encourages higher standards of cultural competence among immigration advocates. Her dedication to her clients and the migrant community is evident in everything she does, making her a trusted ally and advocate for immigrants throughout the region. With her rich background as both an attorney and an immigrant, Rocio is a passionate advocate dedicated to making a meaningful impact in the lives of those she serves.

Julianna Maria Deras
Assistant
I am Julianna Maria Deras. I was born and raised in Los Angeles and am the proud daughter and sister of Mexican and Colombian immigrants. I have just recently graduated from San Diego State University, obtaining two bachelor’s degrees, one in Journalism and the other in Latin American Studies. Coming from an immigrant family, the notion of the journey to the American Dream and the reminder of my family’s struggles both inspire my ambitions and shape my future goals. I am interested in working in immigration, not only because it is something important to me, but because knowing I am making a difference in someone’s life is a constant motivation. Before joining SFR, my passion for human rights and immigration was fulfilled by a semester long research project in which I tutored refugee middle school students in ESL. My role as not only a teacher but as a mentor was extremely rewarding. I have also volunteered at the Jewish Family Services’ migrant shelter, handing out snack bags and teaching an ESL course. With hopes of attending law school in the future, SFR Law has been a wonderful introduction to the beautifully complex world of the law. Not only am I learning about the legal process and court system, but I am also getting to know our amazing clients and see first-hand our teams’ impacts in their lives. I hope to follow in Attorney Rocio’s footsteps, becoming a practicing attorney and making a difference in my community.
